First Round Robin (Bag
Doll):
|
This is my doll (left) from our first Round Robin
doll activity. Everyone began with dolls from the same pattern - designed by Judi
Ward for a hands-on armature workshop. We added faces to our own dolls, then the
dolls went into bags to be exchanged at each meeting. Each month, something more was
added: hair, then underclothing, then outer, etc. We finally saw our original
dolls again in June. What a fun activity, and all the dolls turned out GREAT.

Second Round Robin (Bag
Doll):
|
Second Round Robin (a.k.a. Bag Doll)
Activity. This time we each made dolls from patterns we chose individually, selected
themes or characters for our dolls, created the faces, and started journals to travel with
each doll. The dolls (unseen, in bags) were exchanged monthly, and as above, the
next phase completed. (June-Dec., 2001) Click on any of the thumbnails

Baggie Challenge:
Magnus
(Barbara Willis pattern) |
Judi Ward sought to thin her fabric stash, so
created a challenge for us in January, 2002. She combined complementary fabrics, 4
or 5 different pieces, and placed them in plastic bags. We each (blindly) chose one
of these bags, and created dolls using at least part of everything in the bag. The
dolls were completed for our March meeting. Magnus (left) is made of dyed muslin,
and has Tibetan lambswool hair. Arms and legs are jointed. |
Candlestick Dolls:
|
For our March, 2002 meeting, we completed dolls made
from Judi's "Clarice Candlestick" doll pattern (copyright 2002).
These simple, but wonderfully versatile dolls were the perfect for experimentation.
Purple Angel (left) is made from dyed muslin and has real feather wings. Hair is
dyed mohair. $65.00 includes shipping and insurance to US addresses.

Challenge
|
During our March, 2002 meeting, Judi put together a
grab-bag of older patterns. We each pulled out a pattern, and brought projects made
from those patterns to our April meeting.

Bag Dolls
Revealed December, 2002
|
This was a 6-month activity (June-Dec., 2002).
We each made dolls from patterns of our choosing, added the face, and placed the
doll in an color-coded bag. Each month club members chose a different bag (not their
own, of course), and completed the next scheduled addition (hair, underwear, clothing,
etc.), with the requirement that each item be of the color chosen by the dollmaker.
The dolls were returned and revealed to their owners in December, 2002. Journals
were included with each doll. |
